Prompt Claims Guide

Between June 13 and 15, authors of the bang will be able to choose from the prompts artists submitted. Mods will use these choices to create the teams who then will work together during the event.
Below you can find information on how to filter the prompts and how to fill out the form. Use the table of contents to find your place, so you don't have to scroll through everything.

TL;DR

  • You have to choose 3 prompts, only one of which will be assigned to you. If you are writing for example 3 fics, you have to choose 3x3 prompts.
  • You are able to filter the prompts on the site. By default, only the SFW prompts with no archive warnings are showing: make sure to change the settings if you want to see more!
  • Make sure to check the ships, dynamics, DNWs, etc. It is your responsibility to choose a prompt you like: if for example your chosen prompt is Bottom!Jason only, you will have to keep to that in the fic.
  • You can find the prompts at the JDRB site's prompt section. The password and the links for the list and the form are in the “JDRB - prompt claims” email we sent you. If you can't find the email, check your spam folder, then let us know.
Make sure to not share the password or prompt details with anyone else.

Find the prompts

Where are the prompts?

They are on the prompts section of the JDRB site. The password and the links for the list and the form are in “JDRB - prompt claims” email we sent you. If you can't find the email, check your spam folder, then let us know.

Make sure to not share the password or prompt details with anyone else.

I can't see all the prompts.

You should be seeing 40 prompts altogether. But to make sure there are no surprises, when you first open the site, only the SFW prompts with no archive warnings are showing. Make sure to set the filters so you see all the content you'd like to - more on this if you read on.

Each prompt is displayed by the rough sketch artists turned in – this means that you might get NSFW images, so make sure not to open them at the family dinner. (Or do. We don't judge.)

How to use the filters

There is a lot of information in the prompts, but you can only filter for some of it. The rest you'll have to read.
If you want to know more about the non-filterable info, scroll down to the next section.
Note! Remember, these tags are added by the artists, not the mods.

Types of filters

The filters on the site show up as you can see here.

There are two types:

  • From the circular (radio) filters, you can only choose one.
  • From the square (checkbox) filters, you can choose multiple.

But circular trumps square: if you choose “does not have warnings”, you will not get any warnings, even if you also choose “Underage” and “Graphic Violence”.
Note! You do, however, need to select the warnings you want displayed to show prompts with those warnings.

When you are done making your selection, just press “filters” to hide the menu.

SFW or NSFW

This is the only filter that is about the sketch itself, not the prompts and the future fic.

You can choose if you want to see content tagged as:

  • SFW (Safe For Work)
  • NSFW (Not Safe For Work) — depicts sexy times
  • NSFW — depicts violence
  • NSFW — both sexy and violent

Or simply:

  • All sketches

Prompt rating

Here, (and in all the following filters) we are working with the usual AO3 ratings and tags.

  • All prompts
  • General — General audiences
  • Teenage — Fit for teenagers and up
  • General & Teenage both
  • Mature — Mature audiences (non-explicit sex, violence and other adult themes possible)
  • Explicit — Explicit content (usually with graphic sex, violence, or other adult themes)
  • Mature & Explicit both

Archive Warnings

Again, here we are using the AO3 warnings — you can see:

  • All prompts
  • Only prompts that have some type of warning*
  • Only prompts that don't have any warnings

* Artists could indicate if their prompt — so the story they imagine — has any of the following:

  • Rape / Non-consensual sexual acts
  • Underage romantic / sexual relationships
  • Graphic descriptions of violence
  • Some other content, for which they are warning in the added tags

Note! You need to select the warnings you want displayed to show prompts with those warnings.

Main ship

All prompts focus on the relationship between Jason and Dick, but that could be interpreted as romantic / sexual, or platonic / familial. Choose your fighter:

  • All prompts
  • Platonic & Familial interpretations
  • Romantic & Sexual interpretations
  • Either platonic or romantic relationship (both? both. both is good.)

Side ship(s)

Some works may feature side ships. Here you can choose if you want to see:

  • All prompts
  • Only prompts that feature a side ship
  • Only prompts that do not feature a side ship

What info can I see in the prompts?

You can find all information artists filled out about the prompt. You will not be able to see information about who the artist is, etc.
Make sure to read all the details carefully, as you'll have to use these in your fic.
If one of the fields doesn't show up / is empty, there was no added detail there from the artist.

Sketch

We asked artists to upload a rough sketch, to give you an idea of their vision. The details of this sketch might change during the working period, but this is the general direction.

A short description of the sketch

Sketches are often incomprehensible to anyone but the artist. In case you need some help deciphering what you're seeing, check this field.

Working title

This is the current, planned title of the art. (Or a placeholder if there is none.) This might change during the creation period, and you don't necessarily need to use the same title for the fic.

Is the sketch NSFW?

This tells you if the sketch itself is not safe for work, and if yes, in what direction (sexual content or violence - or both).

The sketch has…

Here go any warnings or additional tags about the content of the sketch / planned artwork.

The prompt itself

Here you can find the prompt itself, in written form. This is not just a written version of the artwork: it might have extra details, etc.
Artists might be okay with working together and adjusting the details of the prompts together with you, but there is no guarantee: don't choose a prompt you can't imagine writing as it is.

Ratings

All the ratings are listed here that the artist can imagine the finished works to be.
If the artist is okay with a fic rated G, T, M, but not E, you will see G, T, M, with E left out. If they are however only okay with E (or the artwork is E), you'll see only E.

Fandom / Universe

This is for if the prompt is set in a specific slice of canon. (E.g. Gotham City Garage.)
If it's general “Batman” or “DC” or just somewhere in the ambiguity of fandom osmosis soup, this field might be empty.

Ships

Here you'll find what kind of relationship(s) the artist wants featured in the work. It can be one or multiple of the following:

  • Jason/Dick and/or Dick/Jason (romantic/sexual)
  • Jason & Dick (platonic/familial)
  • Sideships

If you are only okay with one of these, make sure to check properly.
If you are only okay with, for example, Bottom!Dick, check the Additional tags — NSFW field below.
The sideships option is live if the prompt also features other romantic/sexual relationships besides Jason and Dick.

Sideships

What it says on the tin. If there are none in the prompt, this will be empty.

Warnings

Here again we are working with the standard AO3 warnings. If there are any other warnings for the prompt, you can find them in the additional tags field below.

  • Dubcon or noncon
  • Underage sexual/romantic relationship
  • Graphic descriptions of violence
  • No warnings apply
  • Warnings in the additional tags

Additional tags — story

Here goes all the additional information about the story. (We called them tags here, but they can be sentences or whatever.)
Look here for warnings, tropes, AUs, etc.

Additional tags — NSFW

If the prompt is NSFW, and the author has strict preferences towards dynamics and details (e.g. bottom Jason), you can find them here.

Do Not Want

Any type of content the author is not willing to work with at all (e.g. mpreg; vomiting, (certain) sideships, etc).

Additional notes about the prompt or artwork

This is a message from the artist to the authors — any additional information that wasn't included above but seemed important can be found here.

Desired level of collaboration

This bang is a collaborative event. However, we know that everyone's level of comfort and availability is different - here, artists could indicate the level(s) of collaboration they are most comfortable with. This will be also asked of authors, and the mods will keep an eye out during matching (although no promises), but it's definitely worth it to choose prompts that match your preferences in this too.

This is also not a promise from anyone's side: you might want a full collaboration now, but life might get busy later.

The options are as follows:

  • Full collaboration, working closely on both the art and the fic.
  • Close collaboration, sharing ideas and WIPs every few days.
  • Mid-level collaboration: working together on an outline / plan and then working separately, sharing progress about once a week.
  • Very little collaboration, just use the prompt as basic inspiration and work separately with check-ins every couple of weeks.

How to fill out the prompt claim form?

The link to the form is in the “JDRB - prompt claims” email we sent you. If you can't find the email, check your spam folder, then let us know.

Name

Fic 1

Choose three prompts from the prompt list that you’d be happy to write a fic for. Add them in order of preference for the fields below (so Prompt one is the prompt from the three you like best, Prompt two is your second favourite, etc.)
Important! Out of these three prompts, you will be assigned one. You need to add all three to get matched with one artist.

Are you working on more than one / a third fic?

If yes, you will get the chance to choose another 3 prompts for your second / third fic.

Fic 2; Fic 3

You need to fill these in only if you signed up for more than one fic. Filling these out works the exact same way as you filled out Fic 1.
Note! Make sure you don't choose the exact same prompts for all your fics. At least one prompt needs to be different from your previous choices. So for example, if you are writing 2 fics, you can choose prompts 1, 2, 3 for Fic 1, but need to choose 1, 2, 4 for Fic two (or you can choose 4, 5, 6 - they can be as different as you want).

Desired level of collaboration (mandatory field)

This bang is a collaborative event. However, we know that everyone's level of comfort and availability is different + here you can indicate the level(s) of collaboration you are most comfortable with. We cannot promise you we'll match you exactly based on this, but we'll try our best.

Would you be okay with having more than one author working on the prompt you get?

This could happen because the event has more authors than artists. It could mean you write completely separate fics, or even that you collaborate if you choose to.

Is there anyone you'd rather NOT be teamed with?

This is an answer only the mods will see. If there is anyone, please try to make sure to give enough info that we can recognise them: for example by giving their username and the platform they use it on (e.g. faalthien (Tumblr)).

Notes for the mods?

For any additional messages, info, questions, requests, concerns, etc. We are here to listen!
